Analyzes claims activity and prepares reports for supervisor and management.
Using independent judgment and expertise authorizes payments with scope of authority, settling claims in the most cost effective manner and ensuring timely issuance of disbursements.
Settles claims promptly and equitably, understanding which are insured vs. self insured.
Develops subrogation and third party recovery potential and follows reclaim procedures.
Analyzes claims activities and prepares reports for supervisor carriers and/or management as requested.
Participates in claim reviews.
Effective advanced interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external clients.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required. Industry designations preferred by not required. (IIA, AIC, AEI, and/or CPCU.)
Technical claims investigations/settling experience with 5-8 years experience in Claims of similar organization.
Strong written and oral communication, negotiation and presentation
Workers Compensation (WC) Adjuster License required according to jurisdictional requirements.

Description: 
Position Summary: Under close supervision where work is monitored, maintains assigned caseload of low/medium complexity and/or minimum exposure claims. Utilizes investigation and analytical skills to enhance investigation ability on more difficult claims. Meets productivity objectives.
Job Specifics: Under moderate supervision where work is monitored, maintains assigned caseload of medium/high complexity and/or moderate exposure claims. Works closely with claimants and policyholders to bring about prompt, beneficial resolution of cases. Meets productivity objectives. Mentor/trainee duties may be assigned. Responsible for claims management of assigned case load of medium/high complexity and/or moderate exposure claims, within the guidelines of published performance standards. Analyzes claims, sets reserves, determines compensability, pays benefits and settles claims within established dollar authority and according to company policy and Labor Code provisions. Performs timely investigation including in-person, outside investigations at least [URL Withheld] days per month. Assigns rehabilitation referrals including early return to work programs. Maximizes utilization of company medical cost containment program. 
Prepares cases in litigation adequately and appropriately for MSCs and trials. 
Communicates with policyholders, injured workers and others in a professional and timely manner. 
Responsible for meeting specific performance objectives. May function as an account coordinator to specific policyholders. 
Settlement/reserve authority as established by management. 
May act as a trainer/mentor for less experienced members of the claim technical staff. 
Attends educational seminars and classes as assigned. 
Performs other duties as assigned
Education, Skills and Experience Requirements
Strong verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on telephone communication required.
Strong math and reading skills required.
Full knowledge of workers compensation and current case law
PC literacy required
Three or more years workers compensation claims handling experience required.
Meets all state regulatory standards regarding licensing, continuing education, and other requirements
