Position Profile: The Field Technician will provide a variety of technical services in a high-energy environment supporting a customer base worldwide. As a team member, you will be assigned 100% of the time at customer locations CONUS and OCONUS in support of the mechanical and electronic preventative maintenance of L-3 Communications high performance data link systems. 
Competencies: Support the initial installation, checkout, continuous operation and maintenance of L-3 Communications assigned equipment or products at customer locations. Maximize customer satisfaction through job performance, mission success, and professional conduct. Provide on-the-job training for customer on-site personnel. 
Test, troubleshoot, fault-isolate and repair computers, electronic assemblies and electromechanical modules to ensure mission success as part of a team of other technicians and field service representatives. 
Provide on-the-job training for customer on-site personnel. 
Conduct mechanical and electronic preventative maintenance to predict problems   correct anomalies prior to catastrophic downtime that involves the understanding of computers, N/W custom digital, RF, AC   DC power, link budgeting, satellite operation   maintenance, feedback control and tracking concepts. 
Interpret and follow complex sketches, schematics, drawings, charts, graphs, blue prints, block and wiring diagrams of equipment. 
Modify equipment with authorized upgrades and perform temporary modifications to extend continued operation until maintenance can be performed.
Education/Experience: This position requires an Associate degree or certificate from an accredited two-year technical or military electronics program with specialist knowledge of electronics and mechanics and a demonstrated ability to comprehend schematics, logic drawings, wire lists and prints. Typically requires two plus (2+) years related work experience and a basic understanding of computers, networking, custom digital, RF, AC   DC power satellite operation and maintenance, feedback control and/or tracking disciplines. 
Special Requirements:
Due to the nature of our work this position requires a current Secret Department of Defense security clearance. 
This position may require the ability to work independently over extended periods at isolated and/or hostile locations.
