The EDS team is part of the wider Amazon Enterprise Solutions (AES) group, and is responsible for web-services and applications that enable Amazon&apos;s Retail Partners to integrate their data and business process with Amazon (B2B Integration). AES products are in use today by world class retailers like Target, Marks and Spencer, bebe, Mothercare, Timex, Lacoste and Benefit Cosmetics.
As a Software Engineer on the EDS team, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of open source and Amazon-proprietary Java/J2EE technologies to build complex enterprise-scale AJAX enabled web-applications, SOAP and REST web-services, and service orchestration (process management) middleware. You will have the chance to play a game-changing role in defining the future of Amazon&apos;s massively scalable e-commerce platform, identifying new best practices, leveraging new technologies, and engineering new frameworks.
You will be tasked with building a new B2B Data and Process Integration application. You will have the opportunity to lead development projects, make design decisions and grow your technical, leadership, management and customer-facing skills. Engineers on the EDS team have the opportunity to pursue a number of diverse career paths at Amazon and beyond.
Successful candidates must be innovative, creative, flexible, self-directed, and able to perform the following job functions:
* Participate in the full software development life cycle (SDLC) using agile methodologies like Scrum.
* Design and implement Engineer applications/services to meet availability, scalability, reliability and performance guarantees.
* Recruit and mentor other software development engineers.
Qualifications
* Bachelor&apos;s degree in Computer Science or a related field. Masters/PhD preferred.
* Strong CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms and programming languages).
* Fluency in day-to-day development on Linux platform. Familiarity with Java IDEs like Netbeans or Eclipse a plus
* Fluency in J2SE/J2EE, XML/SOAP, DHTML, web services, and web application/services development.
* Experience in one or more J2EE containers (Tomcat, JBoss, etc), open source web-services frameworks (Axis, XFire, etc).
