Works under the general supervision of the Chief, Department of Social Work Service who assigns cases or areas of continuing responsibility, provides oversight, and assists as requested with unusually difficult or sensitive cases. Within official policy and accepted professional social work principles and practices, the employee independently plans and carries out assignments, keeping the supervisor informed of trends, developments and the status of cases.

About the Position: Regularly assigned patients with unusual problems due to the need to accommodate special conditions e.g., therapeutic limitations because of reconstructive surgery, apprehension over career impact, etc., that require the incumbent to adapt treatment activities and to develop some progressive treatment plans based on the needs of individual patients. Administers the full range of standard therapy agents to include heat, ice, traction, ultrasound, mechanical and manual resistive exercise, electrical stimulation, and other therapeutic exercise in accordance with treatment plan developed. Constantly evaluates patients&apos; response and with physical therapist&apos;s input modifies plan to facilitate achievement of desired affect and ultimate goals.
