                        <description><![CDATA[Minimum Requirements of Employer:
Knowledge equivalent to the completion of a college degree (four years preferred) in Information Systems or a related field is required.
Experience: Minimum of one year of COBOL development experience in a business environment. Experience in developing and maintaining financial business systems a plus. Familiarity with IBM&apos;s Web Sphere MA and In Sync is a plus.
Qualifications: - Knowledge equivalent to the completion of a Bachelor&apos;s degree in Computer Science.
- Experience with COBOL in an OS/390 mainframe environment.
- Working knowledge of DB 2, JCL and CHICKS.
- Solid written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. 
- Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver assignments on time, on budget, and with the required functionality.
- Comfortable using a disciplined development methodology and adhering to development best practices, standards and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Job:
Great Lakes Educational Loan Services, Inc. is seeking COBOL application developers to join our Loan Origination, Approval and Disbursement software development team. Positions are available for individuals with all levels of experience at both our Madison and Eau Claire locations. 
The team is primarily responsible for the development of applications that provide the business processes to create loans and deliver funds to students. The team builds and supports mainframe-based COBOL, CICS and DB2 applications, while also developing new and enhanced Java J2EE applications that run in batch and interactive environments. IBM&apos;s WAS, RAD, and MQ Series products are integral components of our applications environment.
The successful candidates will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining mainframe-based applications. Specific responsibilities include the analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, maintenance and support of these complex business systems.
