Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES) is the global leader in providing broadband satellite networks and services for large enterprises, governments, small businesses, and consumers. Lead engineer responsible for HughesNet Operations production environment specific to system, application and database administration, deployment, and support. Will primarily work on installation, deployment, and support aspects with other members of the HughesNet Infrastructure Technical Support team. Responsible for deploying future NOCC software and COTS releases and upgrades per the deployment schedule.
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of UNIX, systems/server design, management and configuration aspects of UNIX equipment. Knowledge of Sun Enterprise series equipment and product family is required. System administration and configuration skills for COTS products such as Veritas Volume Manager, BEA WebLogic and Oracle. Strong familiarity with clustering technology such as Veritas Cluster Server or MC/ServiceGuard. Performance analysis and tuning experience. Strong systems administration background in the UNIX area, especially Solaris 8 onwards. In depth knowledge of UNIX shell scripting. Must be able to troubleshoot all aspects of Unix OS including storage and network connectivity. Familiarity with fiber channel and storage area networking. Day to day system and application administration as well as project related tasks. 
Pager support, off hours and weekend support will be required. BSCS required; MSCS desired. Equivalent degrees (such as EE and IS) would be acceptable. 
Experience in a High Availability production network operations center. Good communication, documentation, configuration and interpersonal/team skills. Experience with Oracle database administration, Java/C++ coding, HP OpenView network/SNMP network management and Perl scripting a plus. 
This position requires the qualified candidate to be eligible to be cleared for state and commerce licensing for export control purposes with terms and conditions appropriate for this job
